The Cultural Exchange. This reader presents stories for children by contemporary Russian writer Anna Verbovskaya. The main character in the stories is Kostik, he is an ordinary boy of 9 years old. But incredible events begin to happen in Kostik's ordinary life. For example, an absolute stranger from a distant city picks the wrong house and becomes like an uncle for Kostik. Or a Chinese man visiting Russia gives Kostik a souvenir which inspires a dream about the mysterious country in the boy's heart. The text of the stories has been adapted for learners of the Russian language working at A2 level. Commentaries on the text and comprehension exercises are included in the book to check understanding. The reader also provides the most interesting facts about Anna Verbovskaya's life.
